Almost a year to the day after the European Commission published its initial proposal on 26 February 2025, the European Council today formally approved the final text of Omnibus I. Following the earlier, final approval by the European Parliament on 16 December 2025, this wraps up the legislative process of the amendments to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD).

The text will now be finalised to be published in the Official Journal in the coming days. Entry into force will be 20 days following this publication, with a transposition deadline within 12 months for CSRD-related amendments and by 26 July 2028 for CSDDD-related ones.
