Today marks a significant milestone as the
𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐬 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐄𝐒𝐏𝐑) comes into force.

𝟏. 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧 𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬: The ESPR empowers the European Commission to set ecodesign requirements – think recyclability, recycled content, energy efficiency, and more – for specific product groups through delegated acts.

𝟐. 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: The ESPR introduces a digital product passport to enhance transparency and traceability.

𝟑. 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭: Contracting authorities must align with sustainable practices when purchasing products.

𝟒. 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐖𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞: The ESPR tackles wasting unsold consumer products by discouraging destruction.
