On 24 April 2024, The European Parliament adopted the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD). As the final adoption by the Competitiveness Council is expected tomorrow, 24 May 2024, the legislative process is now coming to an end. Perfect timing to give you another update!

Following tomorrow's expected adoption, the final text will still need to be signed and published. After its entry into force twenty days after publication, Member states will have two years to transpose the new rules into their national laws. It is estimated that around 5,500 companies fall within the scope of the CSDDD. These companies will have to design and implement appropriate due diligence measures with regard to their own activities, those of their subsidiaries and those of their supply chain partners, in order to identify, prevent, mitigate and eliminate adverse human rights and environmental impacts.
